Playlists Terminology
- Playlist — an ordered sequence of Information Displays.
- Playlist item — one Information Display in a playlist.
- Sort order — the playback order, controlled by dragging items.
- Default duration — the duration configured on an Information Display.
- Duration override — a playlist-specific duration that replaces the display's default for that item.
- Assignment — a relationship between a Playlist and one or more Devices.
What is a Playlist?
A Playlist groups Information Displays into a playback sequence. The same Information Display can be reused in multiple playlists, in a different position or with a different duration override.
A Device can receive a playlist through a manual assignment or an Automation.
The Playlists list
Open Playlists from the navigation.
The table shows:
- Name — the playlist name. This column can be sorted.
- Project — shown when viewing records across all projects.
- Items — the number of Information Displays in the playlist.
- Actions — Assign, Edit and Delete.
Actions
- New Playlist — opens the playlist builder.
- Assign — selects devices and assigns this playlist to them. Direct Information Display assignments on those devices are not changed.
- Edit — changes the name, items, order and duration overrides.
- Delete — permanently removes the playlist after confirmation.
A playlist must contain at least one item before it can be assigned. Assignment is also blocked if any item refers to an Information Display without generated content. Saving an assignment invalidates caches for both newly selected and previously assigned devices and broadcasts a device update.
