Nodes & Paths

Mapping and navigation of wayfinder maps is done via things called "nodes" and "paths"

Nodes

Nodes are navigational points on your maps. They tell the system where POIs are, and are linked together to form the routes around your spaces.

Adding nodes

To add nodes, select the node tool.

You can then left click directly on the map to add nodes.

You can click on existing nodes to edit them. Press the delete key on your keyboard to delete them.

How to use nodes

As shown in the screenshot above, you should place nodes along the walking routes in your spaces. Additionally, a node should be placed inside each 3D location. Add nodes for amenities too.

Open status

An enabled waypoint allows users to pass through it. Disabling a waypoint will prevent routing. This will take effect immediately after saving.

Enabled

Time delay (seconds)

Manually assign a time delay to the node. This attribute defines how long it takes a user to pass through a join.

Transit Nodes

When users need to change from one map (floor) to another you should use transit nodes. These represent things like elevators, escalators, stairs, doors etc.

To add a transit node, first place a normal node. Then choose "New Auto-Created Group" in the sidebar.

Next you can configure what type of transit node this will be. You can enter a name, pick the direction of travel and the type of transit.

Some types of transit node are considered as "accessible". These will be used when a user enables disability mode. Its important to add in all transit types to allow accessible routes around your spaces.

Transit Weights & Multipliers

Transit node weightings can also be adjusted here. These settings are advanced and shouldnt normally need to be adjusted. A good example would be an especially long travellator, that might take 5 minutes to traverse.

Which floors to add nodes to

The last setting allows you to choose which floors your transit node can reach. Escalators are usually only linked between 2 floors, but an elevator may link many.

Paths

Paths are the links between nodes. They tell the system which nodes are linked together, and which way people may walk between them.

To link two nodes simply enable the path tool and then click on each node in turn to create a path.

You can click directly on a path to change its settings. You can right click on a path to delete it.
