Hidden Settings

Depending on the circumstances, Acquire assists in fault management by using settings in the .INI file and through a command line prompt. If you wish to use these facilities, you do so at your own risk. Please ensure you do not alter any other settings otherwise this may cause Acquire Player to stop working.

Key

Action

MAXMEM=<X>

As we have no control over any third party technologies and applications (e.g. apps, Codecs, etc.), there is the possibility that the overall memory used by Acquire may constantly increase. If this is the case, the PC would typically run out of memory after a period of time. Choose a memory level (in Megabytes) for Acquire to check it has not exceeded. If it has, it will restart itself, releasing all memory used (note: if Norestart=1 is set, Acquire will just shut down).

SILENTSTART=<1/0>

Whenever Acquire Player starts, a ‘Splash Screen’ is displayed confirming connections to the database engine, any apps and the controllers, whilst playing an audio file to allow you to confirm the volume for playback. If you do not wish this to be displayed, use Silentstart=1.

NOESCAPE=<1/0>

Normally Acquire allows you to just press the ESC key to show the settings window for ease of servicing. If you are providing a keyboard for the public to use, you may wish to disable the settings window. Use Noescape=1 to do so.

SHOWCURSOR=<1/0>

Normally Acquire does not show a mouse pointer unless the right mouse button is clicked. When using Acquire in a Web Browser format, you may want to always enable the pointer. Use the command Showcursor=1 to do so.

STARTUPDELAY=<X>

Before Acquire and it’s database engine can operate, there must be a number of normal Windows services loaded and running. On certain PCs these have not completed initialisation by the time Acquire is called from the Startup folder. Use this to make Acquire wait for <x> seconds before attempting to start.

/SAFEMODE

Use in case any of the settings made cause Acquire not to start correctly (e.g. choosing to display on a monitor which is no longer present). This will just load Acquire and show the Settings window for you to remedy the problem setting.

/SILENTSTART

Whenever Acquire Player starts, a ‘Splash Screen’ is displayed confirming connections to the database engine, any apps and the controllers, whilst playing an audio file to allow you to confirm the volume for playback. If you do not wish this to be displayed, use Silentstart=1.
