Edit an existing Layout
Editing an existing Layout
- Open Layouts.
- Find the layout by name, description or linked Information Displays.
- Select Edit.

The editor loads the existing canvas, layers and element settings. The layout remains in its current project.
Update the layout
You can change the Name, Description, canvas dimensions and the complete visual design.
Use the toolbar and Layers panel to add, remove, reorder, duplicate, group, hide or lock elements. Select a layer to edit its position, size, opacity and type-specific content. Grid and snapping controls can help maintain alignment. XML import replaces the editor content with the imported design and generates fresh template identifiers; XML export downloads the current design.
Check the live canvas before saving. Pay particular attention to:
- Elements extending outside the canvas.
- Media-load warnings.
- Gaps in direction destination indexes.
- Tokens or destination elements already used by Information Displays.
Save the changes
Select Update Layout. Beacon validates and saves the complete layout, confirms the update and returns to the Layouts list. Select Cancel to leave without saving.
Beacon warns before discarding unsaved work.
What happens after an update?
Beacon synchronises the layout's uploaded-file references and records the activity. It invalidates caches for devices reached through Information Displays using this layout, then broadcasts a feed_templates update to those players.
Information Displays continue to reference the same layout. If the edited design adds or removes tokens or destination indexes, review those displays and update their mappings as needed.
