Device Terminology
- Device — the player computer or unit running the Beacon client.
- Device ID — the player identifier used by the player to identify itself.
- Display or Screen — a physical output attached to the Device, defined by its pixel width and height. A Device can have from one to six displays.
- Device group — a named collection used for targeting messages or Automation actions.
- Online status — the live connection state supplied through Beacon's status WebSocket.
- Last seen — the most recent time Beacon received the device online or heartbeat state.
- Authentication token — the credential issued to an authenticated player.
- Assignment — an Information Display or Playlist associated with the Device.
What is a Device?
A Device represents an Acquire player computer and its attached screens. Its screen dimensions allow Beacon to generate correctly sized emergency-message images. Devices can be grouped and can receive individual Information Displays, Playlists, or both.
