Create a new Information Display

How to Create a new Information Display.

  1. Open Information Displays.
  2. Select New Information Display.

Complete Display Settings

  • Name — required name shown in lists and assignment controls.
  • Devices — optional direct assignments. You can also assign devices from the list later.
  • Duration (seconds) — default playback time of at least 1 second. The initial value is 30 seconds.
  • Project — required when no project is selected in the header.

Select a layout and supply content

If you want to use information from Wayfinder in Beacon, you will need to login to Wayfinder via Acquire Accounts first.

Choose a required Layout. Beacon displays a live preview and detects the content that the layout expects.

If the layout contains custom tokens, complete the token table. Supply either a static Value or a supported data Path for each token. When both are entered, the static value takes precedence when the form is saved. Empty token rows are omitted.

Built-in Smart Ads tokens are intentionally not shown in the token table. See Smart Ads tokens for the available built-in tokens and their behaviour.

If the layout contains direction elements, select a Destination for every destination index. All displayed destination slots must be assigned before Beacon will save the display.

Changing the layout rebuilds the token rows and destination slots from the newly selected layout, so review all mappings after a change.

Save the display

Select Create. Beacon validates the required name, project, layout, positive duration and destination mappings. On success, it confirms creation and returns to the Information Displays list. Select Cancel to leave without saving.

Beacon warns before discarding unsaved changes.

What happens after creation?

Beacon builds the player message from the selected layout, duration, token values and fixed destination list. It records the activity, invalidates affected device caches and broadcasts a feed_messages update to directly assigned devices. The new display is also available for use in Playlists.
